Solar Power opportunity available for farms, ranches and businesses

September 10, 2010

Renewable energy incentives can offer real cost savings (and sometimes revenue) for Oregon farmers and ranchers.  Oregon’s solar energy pilot program discussed in this Oregonian article is such a program.  Although the article highlights residential users, the program is available for farms, ranches and other businesses as well who are customers of Portland General Electric, Pacific Power, and Idaho Power.  Program participants will receive a guaranteed incentive rate on power that is generated by the system (whether or not it is returned to the grid) for 15 years.

The next round of available spots for participants opens up on October 1st.  If interested in details of the application process, contact your utility.  For further details on the program go to the Oregon Public Utility Website at http://www.oregon.gov/PUC/Solar_Power.pdf
